This past weekend, I had the great pleasure of attending the first annual Seattle Children’s Book Festival, the brainchild of author Asia Citro.
The event took place on Saturday, September 28 at Greenwood Elementary, and it was basically the biggest kidlit book signing I’ve ever been a part of! Not only was the event tons of fun, it raised a lot of money to put books in schools in need! It was such an honour to be be invited to participate.
Here’s a quick visual tour:
Here’s me at the Fest!
Sometimes, I just want to be a fanboy when I attend these events. Look at all the wonderful people I was able to meet up with again and meet for the first time. First up, Ben Clanton of Narwhal and Jelly fame (I signed a copy of one of my books for him):
He was swamped with fans!
Here’s LeUyen Pham, known for Princess in Black and Real Friends, who inscribed a book for my kids with a quick sketch:
Tui T. Sutherland, author of the Wings of Fire series!
Here’s Kazu Kibuishi, best known for his Amulet series:
Me and Suzanne Kaufman, NYT bestselling illustrator of All Are Welcome.
Leslie Patricelli! Don’t we all love her Potty book?
And last but not least in the quick visual tour, Dusti Bowling, author of Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus (which my daughter loved).
And here’s the Fest by the numbers:
This was a truly awesome event for both readers and writers. Many thanks to the organizers for putting it on!
